The GREENWELLS program, managed by the DOE Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), is announced with funding of up to $38 million. It aims to develop sustainable carbon-containing liquids from renewable energy, focusing on renewables-to-liquids (RtL) chemical reactor systems. These systems will store energy from sustainable, intermittent sources as low-carbon fuels or chemicals, facilitating the transportation and storage of renewable energy independent of the electric grid. The program supports projects that efficiently convert carbon dioxide (CO2) and intermittent feedstock of electricity or hydrogen (H2) to carbon-containing liquids, including developing catalysts, manufacturing methods, and balance of plant.\n
