Building Digital UK (BDUK) has awarded broadband provider Quickline a Project Gigabit contract to provide around 28,000 premises across West Yorkshire and parts of North Yorkshire with access to gigabit-capable broadband. The contract involves a £60 million investment to provide gigabit-capable broadband to hard-to-reach premises. The first premises under this contract are anticipated to have access to gigabit-capable broadband in 2024. The government is also providing up to £210 million worth of voucher funding as immediate help for people experiencing slow broadband speeds in rural areas under Project Gigabit.
