The UK government is launching a £300 million high-tech HALEU nuclear fuel programme to support domestic production of the fuel required for next-generation nuclear reactors. This programme aims to end Russia's dominance as the sole commercial producer of HALEU, boost nuclear power production to meet 24GW by 2050, and create jobs and investment in North West England. An additional £10 million is allocated for developing skills and sites for other advanced nuclear fuels in the UK.
