BNDES apoia investimentos da Suzano em inovação e manejo florestal sustentável

The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has approved a financing of BRL 2.6 billion for Suzano's biennial forest program. The initiative, which involves a total investment of BRL 3.6 billion, plans to plant up to 435,000 hectares of eucalyptus farms near the company's industrial units in the states of Espírito Santo, Bahia, Mato Grosso do Sul, Maranhão, Pará and São Paulo. The Bank also approved, through an operation of the BNDES Mais Inovação line, financing of BRL 31 million for the company to develop a new central production of superior eucalyptus trees (forest hybridization) and for investments in an open innovation call, with an estimate that up to 14 innovative projects related to agroforestry, carbon removal, eucalyptus biomass and sustainable packaging are supported.
