The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has approved a financing of R$ 800 million to the South Mato-Grossense Agricultural Cooperative (Copasul) for the implementation of a new soybean processing unit in Naviraí (MS). In another initiative, the Bank plans to contribute up to R$ 175 million to a new investment fund in credit rights (FIDC), in partnership with AGI Brazil, a company that operates in the manufacture of bulk storage equipment, and with the resource manager Opea Capital. These two actions represent new investments of approximately R$ 1.6 billion that contribute to expanding the grain storage capacity in the country, of which almost R$ 1 billion financed by BNDES. The new industrial unit of Copasul, which represents a total investment of R$ 1.4 billion, will have the capacity to process up to 988 thousand tons of soybeans per year, also including the implementation of a complex for receiving, storing and shipping grains.
